Irony is Curvature

March 16, 2026

What did the pirate say when hit with irony? Arch, that hurt.

I have long believed that the concept of irony is a fuzzy equivalent to the concept of curvature. Only difference being that one is defined informally for every day linguistic use and the other has a more technical inclination. But they are describing the same object in meme-space. What is irony, afterall? That one's stated meaning is in fact 'full-circle' opposite in reality. Meanwhile, the curvature $\kappa$ of a smooth curve measures how sharply it bends at each point. Same-same, but different, but still same. Tin foil, or something to it?
